My name is Laura Brittain, and I have been drawing or painting most of my life. I was born and raised in North East Texas and am a self taught artist. I would enjoy taking an actual art class one day in my "spare" time. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in English and a minor in Speech Communication. That may be why I like to use the written word often in my paintings. I am a wife to Brian and a mother to three preschool age boys. The simple things in life, my family, my state and my faith inspire my work. I am currently painting with acrylics. I love the versatility of them. I can paint in a watercolor style with them or in a bold, bright, textured style. I can do modern art or folk art with acrylics. I enjoy everything about the creative process from the beginning of the idea to seeing how it develops and changes on the canvas to naming the art. Themes sometimes come to me through conversations with friends, and I use their names in the names of my art pieces when they do. Other times themes just come to me during every day life, from a song, or during my time in my Bible. I have seen my art evolve over the past few years, and I'm excited to see where it is going.
